Brouwer) Subject: Storyville - just one more time, honestly! >From: WFY261@aol.com >Isn't the Storyville neightborhood just >north of the French Quarter, off Canal St.? Storyville was bounded by Iberville, St Louis, North Robertson (hey hey!) and Basin streets, so the books tell me. It is indeed very near the Quarter, North-West of it, which is not a nice idea when you are having a great time in the relatively safe Quarter! Indeed in those days things weren't all that good either, but at least they had pretty good music to listen to! Sorry, and this really was the last bit about all this, for you who are finding all this too boring to be true! I can't help having fallen in love with the Big Easy, but shouldn't be going on about it in public eh? Love, Marja bernie@bart.nl by the way; check out this one: http://pandora.senecac.on.ca/~dc999a01/robbie.html [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] From: CCM5@aol.com Date: Mon, 20 May 1996 20:08:50 -0400 Subject: Joe Henry Joe thanks Daniel Lanois on his latest album entitled "Trampoline"...I believe he did some of the recording at Kingsway; the rest he did in his garage. For those unfamiliar with his work: he was, up until now, quite "country" based. His previous album "Kindness to the World" was a great release, and also was entirely recorded @ Kingsway (produced by himself). "Trampoline" is a radical departure from his original sound...drum loops and strange samples are present. I think Joe was very courageous in this release, and anyone seeking a new and different sound might what to give it a listen..great lyrics combined with very interesting song structure.....Bye for now! Parra"Date: Thu, 23 May 1996 08:39:02 -0700 Subject: Lanois Home Studio I've been readings the previous newsletters, there are some people asking about Lanois' studio techniques. There is a very good article in the June 1993 Guitar Player Magazine called "Great Home Recordings". Lanois tells how he uses specific piece of equipments: amps, guitars, etc. Regards, Juani [][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][][] Date: Fri, 24 May 1996 14:28:21 -0400 From: Michel Lafleur Subject: Daniel Lanois site Great page about Daniel LAnois, thanks.
