Kenley,
Thanx for the list BTW it's great.
I just found a ticket stub for a travelling road show DL played with in
1993 called Another Roadside Attraction featuring :
The Tragically Hip
Daniel Lanois
Midnight Oil
Hothouse Flowers
Crash Vegas

I saw it in Ottawa on July 26 1993 @ Lansdowne Park, but they played
approximately 12 dates across Canada that summer.
P.S. It was thanks to this tour they recorded "Land", the benefit song
for Clayquot Sound forest.
Hope it's useful.

Regarding the message posted by Chris Hanis about Nellee, Bjork, Tricky,
Orbital, etc. DITTO, DITTO, DITTO (no, I really don't listen to Rush
Limbaugh) Yes, I think Lanois fans are capable of enjoying more than
one type of music.

Best regards,

Hi everyone. Carsten hre, from Widnsor Ontario Canada. just got back from
watching CBC Newsworld. They had an hour long interview with Emmy Lou
Harris. Two pieces of news:
1: while she was being interviewed, Daniel himslef called the show to say
hi. he was calling from a plane on his way to L.A. The host of the hsow
asked him if there were any truths in the rumour that he was doing Bob
Dylan's new album. He said he was on his way to L.A to discuss that with
him..!!
2: They showed clips from a video that was made during the "raw"
recording sessions from Wrecking Ball. Lots of Daniel Lanois playing and
singing. I don't know if this video is out yet but they did say it was
for sale.. I will keep my eyes open for it..

Anyhow. Later!!!

about the cargo he is carrying...."

Cool Water is available through mail-order from KTS in Italy. I
haven't personally ordered from them, but they seem to be reputable.

I'm not really into Cajun music, but I've been listening to an album called
LOUISIANA CAJUN MUSIC SPECIAL , Various Artists (CDCH 914, Ace Records
Ltd.) from 1987, where some of the songs kind of reminds me of D.L. Cajun
songs on ACADIE, especially O MARIE and UNDER THE STORMY SKY. So for those
of you interested in what influences D.L., try this out

Here's the next three - don't worry - we're almost done :) Look for the
finalized versions of "Acadie" lyrics soon...!

***The Unbreakable Chain

You wake up and there's something there tugging at your sleeve
It's not the pitter-patter of the one in your dreams
Held on by the chain, the unbreakable chain
Held there by the chain, the unbreakable chain

You walk and you move, but the wind is not passing you by
It's speaking and you listen and the tears don't come out when you cry
cry cry cryin' won't break the unbreakable chain,
cryin' won't break the unbreakable chain

It's thirty years ago and you live with your decision
You talk to him in a prayer, you send out your transmission
But a prayer won't break the unbreakable chain,
your prayers won't break the unbreakable chain

Your baby's not yours but he walks the streets of your city
He wants to know you, (there's no?) self pity
He's pulling at your heart, the unbreakable chain
pulling at your heart, with the unbreakable chain

And you, you put an ad in the paper, it's foolish but maybe
maybe he'll see 'cause he's searching for mama mia
oh mama here, mama feel the unbreakable chain
mama feel the unbreakable chain

You can't believe that it's now, it's turned itself around
You're frightened of the way that you look,
but you meet him there in town
Oh, the joy and the fear of the unfailable pain
The joy and the fear of the unfailable pain

He stares at you and you step back and no words are spoken
You say hello to your boy and he says "Mama you've awoken"
ah, yes you have broken the unbreakable chain
you have broken the unbreakable chain...

***Whole Lotta Love to Give

I'm watching the rain clouds in the sky roll in
I'm sick of these red pills, sick of the dealer's grin
Daniel, Daniel by the bonfires
On the telephone wire she's callin' you sayin'
Hey I got a lotta love to give

You walked up to me and said did I make a mistake
I feel so naked I could use a twist of fate
There's a sermon that I heard the other day,
confused me so I looked the other way
I'm watchin' you now with a whole lotta love to give

I'm half crazy, eyes are heavy
If I can't be with you I would much rather be very dead
Please don't break it, could you make it
into something that fits into your very pretty head?

I'm half crazy, eyes are heavy
If I can't be with you I would much rather be very dead
Please don't break it, could you make it
into something that fits into your very pretty head?

Just tryin' to write it down while I still remember
The winds are cold, but not yet, it's not yet December
Fireballs bursting in the sky, Wasaga Beach, first of July,
you said to me, hey, I gotta whole lotta love to give

***Indian Red

Mighty cooty fiyo - hey la hey, hey la hey

I've got a Big Chief, Big Chief, Big Chief of the Nation
Wild, wild creation
He won't bow down, down on the ground
Oh how I love to hear him call Indian Red

When I throw my net in the river
I will take only what I need
Just enough for me and my lover
I will take only what I need

Sing:

Mighty cooty fiyo - hey la hey, hey la hey
Mighty cooty fiyo - hey la hey, hey la hey...
