Hey!

Thanks for the email back. The Trip CD was a promo only deal so
it's quite a find. Like I said earlier, the tracks I did hear were amazing.
Instrumental film music of sorts. Congrats on the sight for it's a good one.
I saw Lanois years ago hear in LA at the Roxy supporting the first
album. Great show, great band, played "You Don't Miss Your Water". etc....

Please let me know if you come across Trip!

Jon

Greetings All,
I'd like to start a dialogue with you about the works in progress that
Daniel so kindly shared on his recent guest spot on KPFA, San Francisco.
(Thanks again to Billy Burke for the dubs!) ("Don't tell me this town ain't
got no heart!" -Jerry Garcia/Robert Hunter)
The first track is a heavy drum track with kit and Djembe. The deep
processing makes the music sound like it's being played in a cave and is a
powerful means of transportation.
The next one has guitar and bass as well as drums and percussion, and what
sounds like synth samples too, buzzing beeping and flying around in the mix,
like some kind of electronic fireflies. This one has a reggae feel to it.
These are very strong grooves. I certainly hope they both make the final cut
as the record progresses.
The two LJ tracks Daniel played (he has produced their upcoming record, I
won't assume that everyone knows) are fantastic too, with lyrics like
"faith will come, humbly down. Fear will come, tumbling down..." (I *think*
these are correct, but the spirit is clear at any rate. This one sounds like
it has Daniel's writing in it either completely or as co-writer. The sound
of these tracks and the first official single which has been released (Naked
Eye) is wonderful. Great, Deep bass pours out of the monitors.
Daniel really brings out the sweetest part of these performers work, but
it's clearly a LJ record.
There's also a piece with Daniel providing music and Ani DiFranco reading a
poem. The piece is profoundly intimate. I just can't say how much it rocked
my world. This is supposed to be released as part of a compilation at some
point.
The LJ album "Fever in Fever out" is due at the end of october.
Be well my electronic friends....

I remember this was mentioned in a very early edition of the list -
someone mentioned that they had won it from a radio station and that it
was a CD that Dan had made to promo his music to movie studios for use as
a soundtrack.

By the way - wasn't it mentioned a while back that he was doing a score
and/or soundtrack work for a couple movies? Any more info on this?

But hopefully he'd forgive us once he knew it was merely for the sake of,
as you said - magical music... :) I've actually learned quite a lot from
doing it and I'd already held sincere appreciation for the beauty and
power of the music (as I'm sure many did) long before I ever thought of
putting together lyrics... :)
