Hello!
Just wanted to report on a MOST wonderful experience I had during the GAVIN
radio conference here in New Orleans. Lanois and the managers and engineers
of Kingsway (Karen, Georgia, Phillip, and Ethan) hosted a meet and greet for
Joe Henry on Thursday, Feb.18th. at the beautiful, exotic, 1860's mansion on
Esplanade Ave. I had longed to see the automated studio/home for some time
and felt very privileged to be able to see the absolutely amazing space.
The energy at Kingsway is not to be underestimated and the people that work
there make it even more special. It is unfortunate that Lanois, as I
understand, is trying to sell the incredible space just as SOOO many great
bands and musicians are really getting into recording there in NOLA.
New Orleans is a spectacular old city and Kingsway, I believe, is truly
meant to stay open under Lanois' name and spirit. I really wish he would
reconsider selling.
Thank you, though, to Lanois for establishing such a memorable, creative
space while it lasts, and providing such great musicians (Ani DiFranco and
ReBirth, Squirrel Nut Zippers, Afghan Wigs, Emmylou Harris) a truly
inspiring place to record.
Dana Hanaman
(p.s.--everything's connected in such weird ways Lanois' manager is Joe
Henry's wife who is Madonna's sister, is that right?)

Fellow Acadians,
Don't you think this pair of great musicians would make a first-class
collaboration in a duo or in a more elaborate setting.
Think of DL's cutting-edge atmospheric sound married with master
slide-atmospheric guitar sound of Ry Cooder.
I think it is a match made in heaven. What do you think?
Paris-Texas, Slingblade soundtracks and older DL, RC material could be
revisited.
New material could emerge from a fruitful and inspired collaboration.
Both DL and RC are both very open-minded and talentful musicians, willing to
push back boundaries and they have proven successful in the past in
collaborating and sharing with other musicians of very different horizons.
What are your views?

Has anybody listened to the Willie nelson album? I would like very much if
someone would be able to tell me how it is before I bought it.

Does anyone have any solo live material of DL other than Cool Water and 2-6-90(Germany)? Is there anything else existent? Of course, if the answer to that question is "yes", question #2 is: can I trade you for a copy of it?
Another question...about 6 years ago I was considering attending Full Sail School for the Recording Arts in FL. During an informational meeting there, someone mentioned that our favorite Dan attended that school (perhaps it was only temporary, I don't know). Anyone know if there is truth to that, just for curiosity sake?
Waitng and praying for a new album,
Rob (Seattle, WA )

Hi
Info on these sessions can be obtained from David Essig at
essig@island.net
My name is Doug McArthur and I am one of the musicians who recorded in
Danny's mother's laundry room. I recorded an album named "Sisteron"
there in 1976.
Recently I have been in the Berkeley Area writing songs based on
California History. Our CD info is at:
http://Members.aol.com/jeffrac/dj.html
I am currently in Texas doing geek work (Web Pages, etc).
Keep up the good work

I was recently thumbing through the credits of the soundtrack to "The Last
of the Mohicans," when I noticed that one of the tracks was based on
"Orchestral Mohican" by Daniel Lanois. Does anyone know if there is a
recording of this tune by Dan himself?
Big Gulps huh guys?
Well... See ya later.
