To answer the writer's question on Peter's next cd release:
Peter Gabriel's been touring, producing other artists, expanding his
label and just about everything but his next album, which he returned to
in January to complete. He is guilty of tireless effort in at getting
exactly what he wants, which after hundreds of takes, it gets harder to
know which is the one and that's not before the mixes. Rumor has it he
is close. Voila, Chlorine

"Lanois' sound" is not too hard to get, but realize that he certainly uses
a variety of guitars and always manages a recognizable sound. His typical
setup would involve a Vox AC-30, two or three korg rackmount delays (the
blue one with the yellow knobs and modulation capabilities). He typically
uses a guitar with single coil pickups, like a Junior, a goldtop,
jazzmaster, strat, etc. I noticed his strat had a duncan stacked humbucker
in the bridge, however.
The 'cutting timbre' you are referring to has much to do with the nature
of the AC-30. An AC-30 is a beautiful instrument in it's own right.

From Rolling stone, 814,
"u2 are getting back to their roots. The band is in a
DUblin studio recording it's tenth LP. Producers are
brian Eno and Daniel Lanois, who also produced The
Unforgettable Fire, The Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby.
The album- which is still untitled- will offer a
drastic change from the electronic oriented sounds of
Zooropa And Pop.
"the new record is U2 the band, back to the mid 80's."
the Edge said recently. " We have decided to drop all
the technology and get back to just drums, vbass,
guitar and vocals."
Gee. think it was because Pop was not well taken? Do
what you know, boys. I never cared for Pop, and have
yet to listen to it in it's entirety.
The daownside is that there will still be no new
Lanois disc for a while, and I am really itching for a
new ablum from him.
Cheers, Dragonfly.

I heard a disturbing third hand rumour that Daniel Lanois has said he doesn't
want to do anymore solo stuff. Someone please dispell this horrible gossip.

I know for a fact with all of the music knowledge that is out there,
someone will know this answer. Can someone please enlighten me I the
connection of Brian Blade, Rev. Brady Blade and Brady Blade, Jr. I
really would like to know their age relation and background. Also, did
anyone find a tape of the Jerry Garcia Band covering "The Maker"? I am
not a big Dead fan, but I really admire Jerry's talent and musicianship
and would love to hear it. Also, while I am asking questions, how can I
get a copy (even a tape copy) of "Cool Water" or any and all shows. I
don't want it for any other reason than to enjoy it.

Subject: Vagabond Ways - Marianne Faithfull

Any info on DL's contribution to Marianne Faithfull's latest album,
Vagabond Ways ?
My daily newspaper talks of "the maudlin mood and funereal pace of Danial
Lanois's production",
which does not inspire me to run out to buy it.
Should I ??
