I found some errors in the lyrics of The collection of Marie-Claire

Marie-Claire, j'ai marche toute la soiree
Ton portrait toujours pres de mon coeur (Your picture always near my heart)
Je veux te dire que je t'ai reve tout l'ete
Marie-Claire, s'il te plait, n'est pas peur.

I brought you some colours to paint with
On the nights when it's cold outside
And I'll shoot that blue-eyed son of a bitch
'Cause it's me who'll have you for his bride

Marie-Claire, it's no good la vie d'une danseuse (the life of a nude dancer)
Tous les yeux, they're on you, I can't stand (it)
Don't you know that you are my amoureuse.
Marie Claire, let them all be damned.

My hands have bled to the bone
I brought you a drawing to see
Of the cabin made of sticks and stones,
And there you will learn to love me.

Marie Claire, j'ai sale beaucoup d' poissons (d' =de)
Et les bois du Nord maintenant sont tranquilles
Je te promet de ne pas boire la boisson
Oublie le Montreal, la vieille ville.

As I lay you there on the backseat,
All in white there, dans mon char*
Take your time Marie Claire and sleep,
As I bring you up to Labrador.

I'm from Quebec city (2 hours from Montreal)
I think this will sound better with these corrections.
It's a story about a man who falls in love with a nude dancer
Thanks for the great page!

Louis-Philippe

Dear Michelle, I thought it was fine that you were talking about your
story, and it was relevant and intersting, pray continue in the next
newsletter . . . and also explain how you got into lanois, was it through
meeting him or hearing him in some random place?

Hi everyone! I'm a new subscriber to ACADIE, and I'm so glad that there's a
forum to discuss one of my favorite music topics . . .someone asked last
time about Cool Water -- be prepared to shell out 30-40 bucks. I saw a copy
at a local shop here, and was abouthow much it cost. I didn't bother, since
the CD is taken from a Toronto television appearance that I videoed.

Anyways . . .I've been a fan for years now, and one thing I notice is that
wenever hear about Daniel, theman himself. I apologize in advance if this
has already been asked, but what about him, personall? I mean, does he have
kids, a family . . etc?

Many thanks,
Paula

Subject: lyrics, the cover of "Wynona" and more...

Greetings all.

Martin said re: "The Messenger" "You were poisoned, you were paved."

I hear "You were poisoned, you were PAINED".

I would like to express a long time gripe of mine about the American cover
art for "The Beauty of Wynona." Puke. :-O~

Censorship sucks. I have a copy of the vinyl, (UK pressing, I believe), and
the model's breasts are not covered by any such backwards puritanistic
nonsense. It's a beautiful and provocative image. Who, I wonder was
responsible for this infantile act?

I am going to call the label and inquire as to the evolution of this cover
art, and will post my results here.

Re: related comments in last issue...
Mitchell Froom also produced the newest Los Lobos album "Gigantic Head."
This ain't no La Bamba, baby, it's a full blown modern romp...

And Cibo Matto is a terrific group. Their Album isn't for the timid or basic
tastes. The lyrics are heavily coded. For ex., "You got to know your
chicken" comes for Italian slang for "You got to know your shit." The music
is challenging, but us East Coast types like in your face music as much as
the spiritual depths of artists like Danny Lan....

Peace to all you fellow Dan-Heads. Eric (eclark@monmouth.com)

Subject: Emmylou sighting

As luck would have it, Emmylou Harris came to town (Winnipeg) a few
Saturdays ago(March 30) and I couldn't get there because of 12" of fresh
snow and a sort of winter storm. I did however read the preview and review of
the concert and would like to confirm a question about DL awareness in
Canada. Both articles talked about Emmylou 2/3 of the time and DL for
the rest so, at least in Winnipeg, DL's work is not ignored by local
media. They even go so far as to single out Darryl Johnson in the
article and his association to everything. Similar media coverage
was focused around DL when the Ron Sexsmith album was released.

More babbling,... I'm always intruiged by Americans mentioning Rush...for
some reason, I always assume that they aren't well known outside Canada.
I believe someone mentioned a Rush/DL effort as being a sort of 'dream
team' combination and I couldn't agree further. By the way, with
everyone talking about Canadian producers...another guy I consider a gem
is Micheal Phillip-Wowodja...that last bit might be spelled incorrectly.
Anyways he produces for a band called 'the rheostatics' and their studio
work with Micheal is quite powerful. Lots of sounds and things people in
this newsletter are familiar with through DL's work(ie. being able to sit
in a room and be taken completely aback by the music being played...kind
of like the sounds in P.Gabriel's 'US'.). Another more
experimental producer from Canada is Bob Wiseman...he's already been
mentioned in this newsletter as having worked with DL in some form or
another.

Subject: Emmylou concert in San Francisco

Please indulge me for a few minutes while I rave about the Emmylou
concert in San Francisco this past week. She did most of her new
album (except Waterfall which I really love). Also did The
Maker/River Rise with a great little drum duo with Brady Blade
(brother of Brian, DL's drummer) and Darryl Johnson (DL's bass player)
between the two parts. They also did Indian Red as part of the encore.
Great to hear! The guitarist's name is Buddy Miller; he did a decent
job covering Daniel's playing on the new stuff. He didn't try to
imitate DL's playing to much. I definitely missed DL in this band
especially since I saw him play with Emmylou twice this past year.
Anyway, that's enough for now. If you want more, let me know. Go
see her if she comes through your town.
