Thank you all for your continued participation. I still hope to have some
exciting news for us all by the end of the year in regards to the topic of our
discussions.

This note is to let you all know that I am going on vacation (motorcycle trip
to Alaska) for the next three weeks and won't be able to produce the
Newsletter. Please keep your messages coming though and I will put it all
together in a special issue when I return. You can probably expect the next
issue to be around August 18.

Bonjour!

Found a tid bit for you all - PBS has a series entitled "Sessions at West
54th" that began airing on July 5, Saturdays, 11pm on most local PBS
stations across North America.

It features an array of blues, rock, folk, jazz and world music acts
including - you guessed it - none other than Monsieur Lanois with
Mademoiselle Harris scheduled to air on Sept. 6/97.

From what I read: "Though the series will be taped with an audience, Jeb
Brien (exec. prod.), wants to give it a different look, with the musicians
facing each other instead of the audience." It continues: "Our audience
will be eavesdropping on these musicians, busy at their craft, having a good
time. The artists are meant to relate to each other, not the audience."

There you go.

Take care,
Nat

Just wondering, are there any Lanois/U2/Gabriel/Dylan fans who live in the
Denver, CO area who are either a guitar player or drummer? If so, E-mail me
SOON! We are trying to get a band going, and YOU probably know how hard it
is to find people who like the type of music we like! We'll have a lot of
fun. Of course, if you play any instrument and are interested, let me know,
we'd love to
see what kind of music we can make. We are in our early 20's if you're
wondering about age.

Hi Everyone,

EmmyLou Harris is featured on the cover of the current issue of Now, a free
weekly in Toronto. The address is:

http://www.now.com/issues/current/Ent/cover.html

It will be online through July 30. If anyone needs it, I can e-mail a text
version, just let me know!

One thing mentioned in the article that may answer a question for Acadians is
that Daniel was on contract to perform with EmmyLou only ten times, which he
has completed, so it looks like he probably won't be seen with her anymore
this tour.

Cheers,
Lisa

Hot off the presses...

PBS is launching a new music series calleds "Sessions at West 54th," a
performance plus interview in the vein of "Austin City Limits".

Check out the list of upcoming shows...

August 16 -- Richard Thompson and Suzanne Vega
August 23 -- Shawn Colvin and Keb Mo'
August 30 -- Philip Glass and Kurt Elling

and *why else would I post this on Acadie*

September 6 -- Emmylou Harris and Daniel Lanois

I would anticipate a set similar to what the pair played at their
in-store in Santa Monica -- some Sling Blade, some Wrecking Ball,
maybe even that cool Cohen cover and other new stuff.
