Daniel Lanois
"Here is What Is"Los Angeles Movie Premiere
and Live Performance with Brian Blade
Thursday March 27 @ The Vista Theatre

or the past 30 years, friends and fans have been asking critically-acclaimed singer/songwriter/producer Daniel Lanois for a glimpse into his recording studio and his creative process. In this the 90 minute documentary he finally appeases the requests.

"Here Is What Is" is a sonic journey that captures the art of making a record by one of the most distinctive and celebrated producers of our time. Directed by Adam Vollick, Adam Samuels and Lanois, the film debuted at the 2007 Toronto Film Festival and offers viewers a rare chance to see Lanois at work behind a soundboard. The film opens up with a magical piano performance by Garth Hudson from The Band. Lanois then travels to Shreveport, LA where he joins Brian Blade's father at the Zion Baptist Church for a roaring rendition of "This May Be The Last Time." The film also includes footage with Brian Eno, Emmylou Harris, Billy Bob Thornton, and U2.

March 27 marks the LA premeire for "Here Is What Is". The two showings will each include a live performance from Daniel Lanois featuring Brian Blade. Lanois has won Grammy's for his work with U2, Bob Dylan and Peter Gabriel, and also worked with Willie Nelson, Brian Eno, Emmylou Harris, Robbie Robertson, Scott Weiland, and many more. These rare performances are not to be missed.
