Following a quick reference to DL working with Dashboard Confessional in a Toronto Star article (see Belladonna in Canada June 6 thread..) I googled and came up with these... seems like he's doing a bit of producing again.

Does anybody know much about this band?

Dashboard Recording With Daniel Lanois

By Jonathan Cohen, N.Y.

Dashboard Confessional is in Canada recording its next album with famed producer Daniel Lanois (Bob Dylan, U2). According to a spokesperson, the set is tentatively due Oct. 12 via Vagrant.

Dashboard frontman Chris Carrabba recently played a handful of shows on the East Coast, including a reunion set with his former band, Further Seems Forever, at the Bamboozle festival in Asbury Park, N.J. At deadline, the only Dashboard show on the books will come during the revived Lollapalooza festival, to be held July 23-24 in Chicago's Grant Park.

The as-yet-untitled new album will be the follow-up to Dashboard's 2003 effort "A Mark, A Mission, A Brand, A Scar," which debuted at a career-best No. 2 on The Billboard 200 and has sold 794,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Dashboard Confessional Enters Studio
May 11, 2005
Dashboard Confessional is back at work on its new album.
After scrapping a previous attempt at a new album, Chris Carrabba and the boys of Dashboard returned to the studio last week. The band tapped producer Daniel Lanois (Peter Gabriel, U2) to man the boards for the follow-up to 2003’ A Mark, a Mission, a Brand, a Scar (Vagrant)

Well, I have heard some of Dashboard's stuff, and I hope I don't upset anyone now, but I wasn't impressed. Aggressive pop/rock with a touch of modern punk, sounds a bit like Green Day at times. Some songs are softer though, like a less charismatic Counting Crows. But that's more like first impressions than a serious review. Could be a great challenge for Daniel though!

Interestingly (or perhaps not) but Dashboard was the opening band for U2.  U2 was in Toronto to rehearse and spend a week here in Toronto for the 3rd leg of the Vertigo Tour.  U2 played the 12th, 14, 16th and 17th of Sept/05 at the ACC and Dashboard opened up.

I saw the Saturday show and wasnt overly blown away by Dashboard either.  Was rather disappointed as other U2 fans on the first 2 legs of the tour got to see the Killers or Franz Ferdinand...we get Dashboard  sorry guys!  just expected a "bigger" band you know?  Even the Trews or something would have been cool...
