A few years ago Daniel ended his set with a cool religous song. It had lyrics about a river and water. Anybody have any idea what that song was or how I could find out? I want to get a copy of it. Thanks.

It is very likely that the song you are seeking is "The Maker"...

Oh deep water
cold and black like the night
I stand with arms wide open
I've run a twisted line
I'm a stranger
In the eyes of the Maker

He often closes with this song.

Thanks. I'm don't think this is it, but it's cool.

Subject: Sessions at West 54th & the Dylan album

Here's the set they did:

   Emmylou Harris & Band
      - Where Will I Be
      - Wreaking Ball
      - Goin' Back to Harlan
Emmylou Harris & Band with Daniel Lanois
      - Deeper Well
   Daniel Lanois & Emmylou Harris
      - Shenandoah
   Daniel Lanois
      - Bu ton sturia  [anyone know French?Huh?]
      - Orange Kay
Daniel & Darryl only then Emmylou & Brady
      - The Maker

This is the only setlist I could find the "sessions" show.
Anyone have anything different?

Rob:  I think you've got the setlist right, from multiple (although always flawed or incomplete!) versions of the set I've gotten (as well as seeing the show on TV way back when).  The original comment about a "river" and "water" song closing the set may refer to the "oh, river rise, from your sleep" coda Lanois puts on the song live (I'm embarrassed to say I haven't listened to the studio version recently enough to remember whether it closes that way too).

Well it's sounds like you are right and I'm wrong. The Maker has got tot be the song. I remember seeing him play a Gibson Firebird on this tune and it killed--very soulful. I downloaded it off itunes and it is a great song. I plan to use it for a special at the church service I run(www.thestirring.net) . Thanks for your help, Hal

It might also be "Still water"
